Teachers and educators should be honored and appreciated even in the summertime. This month’s Crystal Apple Award winner loves making a difference in her community.
Colleen Kelly is in her 3rd year of teaching in the Language Arts Department at Highland Park High School. Here is what her nominee said about her:
“Colleen loves teaching, her students and her coworkers. She has passion for her job and genuinely cares for her students. This current school year has challenged everyone and she understands the challenges of remote learning for both teachers and students and goes out of her way to make sure her students know she is there for them everyday whether they are in her classroom or virtual. Her first year of teaching she was nominated and won “Best First Teacher” in the 501 school district. This confirmed she made the correct decision to become a teacher and she is making a difference.”
