If you have never been to a winery, we suggest going to Prairie Fire Winery in Paxico. They have some of the best views of the Flint Hills and the wine is really good. But, don’t take my word for it.

According to a press release, the winery received international recognition from a wine competition. Here is what the press release said:

 Prairie Fire Winery received a Gold medal and 2 Bronze medals at the 26th Annual Amenti del Vino International Wine Competition held in Connecticut.

The international competition was held June 15th and included wines from across the globe. Wine experts and judges from throughout the United States awarded a Gold medal to Prairie Fire Winery’s 2017 Vignoles Estate, and Bronze medals to both the 2016 Chambourcin and the 2017 Rougeon.

“We were honored to have been invited to enter, and even more honored for our Kansas grown and made wines to receive the recognition they did,” said Winemaker and Viticulturist Bob DesRuisseaux. “I am especially proud of our 2017 Vignoles Estate. One of my wife’s favorite grapes, they were the first we planted here in our vineyard on Bacchus Ranch. We dug every hole, trained each vine, and have shepherded them each year through our unpredictable summers and winters. The vines love and thrive in our soil and limestone located here in the Flint Hills.”

If you have a day or weekend available, make sure you head 15 minutes west of Topeka and check out Prairie Fire. It is a fantastic experience you will not forget. The people there are super friendly, and the wine is amazing!
