We are thrilled to announce that Miranda Gil, a dedicated Special Education Teacher at Topeka West High School, was awarded the prestigious Crystal Apple Award for July.
Miranda’s unwavering commitment to her students and her tireless efforts in creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment truly set her apart. Anaya Bradley, one of her students, nominated her for this well-deserved recognition.
Anaya shared in her nomination letter,
I would like to nominate Miranda Gil for the Crystal Apple Award. I would like to tell you about how much of an impact she has made on my life and the many students around me. Miranda is a special education teacher and this year I got the amazing opportunity to mentor her class. I made so many connections with her students that I’m grateful for. But those connections wouldn’t be made without her. She teaches everyone empathy and kindness. Every day I walk into that class I already know I will walk out of that class with plenty of laughs and smiles. Miranda radiates positivity. She does so much for her students and makes sure everyone is taken care of and excels in their education. She treats the kids like her own.
Miranda’s impact extends beyond the classroom. Her bright smile and genuine care for her students have left an incredible mark on the entire school community.
As part of her award, Miranda will receive a personalized Crystal Apple award and a prize package from Prairie Band Casino. Additionally, Topeka West High School is in the running for a $1,000 donation, which will be announced in January 2025.
We applaud Miranda Gil for her outstanding dedication and congratulate her on this well-deserved honor. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of your students, Miranda!
