The annual Juneteenth Parade, celebrating the 11th Anniversary of Topeka Family and Friends Juneteenth Celebration, Inc will take place on June 19, 2024, from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm, with road closures from approximately 9:30 am to 1:00 pm. This cherished tradition brings together residents, visitors, and businesses to enjoy and create lasting memories.
This year’s parade is special as we celebrate the 11th Anniversary of Topeka Family and Friends and the State of Kansas’s historic designation of Juneteenth as an official state holiday. The parade will begin at 3rd Street and Kansas Ave at 11:00 am, winding through Downtown Topeka and culminating in a festival at Evergy Plaza from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. There will be food, music, and entertainment for all ages, ensuring a great time for everyone.
To ensure the safety and success of the parade, the following streets will be closed (see map below). There will be several steps taken to minimize potential disruptions during the event:
- Alternative Routes: Signage will guide traffic and provide directions to alternative routes allowing walking access to your business.
- Communication: We have coordinated with local law enforcement and traffic management authorities to minimize traffic congestion.
