
The excitement surrounding Topeka’s new Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL) team continues to build as fans are given the opportunity to vote on the team’s name. The community-driven initiative has narrowed down the name choices to five finalists, and now it’s up to the fans to decide the winning name.
After an initial round of submissions, the FPHL has announced the top five name choices for the new Topeka hockey team:
- Topeka Scarecrows – A nod to the city’s agricultural heritage and a name that might be familiar to long-time hockey fans.
- Topeka Tornados – Reflecting the powerful and unpredictable nature of the sport.
- Topeka Wizards – Adding a touch of magic and mystery to the ice.
- Topeka Roadrunners – Honoring the legacy of a previous Topeka hockey team.
- Topeka Capitals – Emphasizing Topeka’s status as the capital city of Kansas.
Fans can cast their votes online or at various community events. The voting period begins on Monday, April 14, and will run until Sunday, April 27.
The final name will be announced at a special ceremony on May 5, where the team will also unveil its logo, jersey design, and other important details. This event will mark the beginning of an exciting new chapter for hockey in Topeka.
