March Crystal Apple Winner – from Perry LeCompton

Jessica Christman of Perry LeCompton Middle School

Jessica Christman of Perry Lecompton Middle School is our latest winner of the Crystal Apple Award. Her nominator, Megan Rogers, said that “Jessica is the kind of teacher that every student dreams of having.” Christman coaches 7th grade girls’ basketball, and Roger’s daughter was the team manager last year. From the nomination letter, and when we met Christman at PLMS, it was clear that her impact on her students is lasting.

On top of being a dedicated coach, her nominator said Jessica goes above and beyond to ensure that every child has the opportunity to participate – no matter their skill level. Christman said that playing basketball was an outlet for her younger self. Which is why she hopes to give the players a sense of belonging, as well as teaching them the fundamentals of the game. “Every day is a good time… a lot of memories have been made,” said Christman.

Once a student of USD 343, Jessica is now in her 5th year teaching in the school district. Her nominator, Rogers, told us that Christman is “the kind of teacher that every student dreams of having,” because she makes education fun and engaging. “She is always finding innovative ways to get her students involved in their learning journey.”

As a Crystal Apple Recipient, Jessica will receive a commemorative Crystal Apple Award from Majic 107.7 and will enjoy a night away at Priaire Band Casino & Resort to dine, stay, and play.

To every professional in the education system, spending countless hours beyond the classroom to make it a special place…. WE THANK YOU!
