Recycle Your Christmas Tree with the Topeka Zoo

The Topeka Zoo & Conservation Center is once again inviting the community to donate their live Christmas trees, starting December 26th. This annual tradition allows the animals to enjoy some enrichment from your leftover trees, then later repurposes them into mulch for community use!

Drop-Off Details:

  • Location: Southeast side of Gage Park, just east of the horseshoe court parking lot.
  • Directions: Enter Gage Park from the 10th Street entrance, turn right onto Munn Memorial Drive heading northwest, and look for the orange snow fence near the horseshoe courts. Trees should be placed in the grassy area nearby.
  • No Appointment Needed: “We’ll take care of the rest and ensure the trees reach the animals who can enjoy them. Thank you for your thoughtful donation!” said Fawn Moser, Zoo Director.

Please ensure that all trees are free of ornaments, tinsel, hooks, tree stands, and plastic bags for the safety of the animals. The zoo will accept tree donations through January 8, 2025. After the animals have had their fun, the trees will be chipped into mulch and repurposed throughout the community.

Not only do you have the chance to provide enrichment for the zoo’s animals, but you will also be promoting sustainability by recycling the trees. Your thoughtful donation can make a big difference!
