Topeka has been home to the Kansas Expocentre for many years. Now you will be seeing some major changes to the complex that will make it the premiere attraction in Northeast Kansas.
Monday, May 6th will be the groundbreaking ceremony for the renovation and expansion project for the facility. It will take place starting at noon outside of the main Landon Arena entrance. You are encouraged to come out and enjoy lunch with food trucks providing you an opportunity to grab a bite to eat.
The twenty-four month project will see three buildings get a major makeover. According to the press release, here is what is slated in the upcoming months:
“The facility design will focus heavily on improving the patron experience, with some exciting improvements and additions to Domer Arena, Landon Arena, and Exhibition Hall.
You will soon see extensive renovations to the Domer Arena Equine and Livestock facility, including new concessions, LED lighting, bleacher and bathroom upgrades, new stalls and panels, etc.
In Landon, you will see brand new seating, which is expected to be completed before the end of 2019. Premium seating options, an end-zone bar, and additional suites will be added.
Exhibition Hall will be able to accommodate growing events, due to a nearly 40% expansion in floor space. To follow, we can look forward to new concession stands and beer gardens, escalators, a grand lobby, and new digital arena signage.”
One of the other major projects will be taking the main entrance of Landon Arena and removing the steps. In the near future, you will be able to enter the arena on the ground level and take escalators and elevators to the main level of the arena. It will be an exciting time the next couple of years off of Topeka Blvd.
Sean Kelly will be broadcasting live from 11 AM till 1 PM on Monday, May 6th. Come say hi and celebrate the future of Topeka entertainment.
