You Can Go On A Safari Right Here In Topeka

There is something new that is coming to the Topeka Zoo, and it brings a piece of Africa right here to the capital city.

Friday at 9 AM is the grand opening of Camp Cowabunga. It is the newest addition to the zoo, and it brings an African safari home to you.

As you first walk in, you notice a Land Rover that kids and adults can sit in. In fact, part of the hood is in the Patas Monkey’s exhibit, and you are able to take a selfie with one of the monkeys as they climb on the hood.

You can also hang out at the Dung Beetle Square, roar thru megaphones and even pretend you are in a hot-air balloon.

Another awesome feature of Camp Cowabunga is the building that is set up to look like four different tents. Inside, zoo visitors will get to see lions and spotted dogs up close. There is also going to be a new porcupine and ostriches roaming the camp.

The whole experience is a vision of former zoo director Gary Clark. He has gone on hundreds of safaris and you can also see some of the artifacts he has collected over the years.

This is something that you need to see for sure!
